Record
Starts recording the conversation at the point in the path where you place it. The module has no settings and the call continues on its way.
In brief
| Outputs | one |
| Fields | none |
| Condition | the Recording setting must be active in Settings |
| If recording is switched off on the installation | the module does nothing and the call still continues to its output |
| Side effect | the module answers the call to start recording |
| If the output is not connected to anything | the call is hung up |
How it works
This is one of the few modules with no configuration. You place it where recording should begin, and the call continues.
As it passes through, the module checks the Recording setting of your installation, in Settings. If it is active, the call is answered and recording of the conversation starts. If it is not, the module does nothing at all.
Either way, the call continues to the module's output: this module never ends the call for its own reason, whether it succeeded or not. The general rule still holds afterward: if its output is not connected to anything, the call is hung up at that point.
Recording starts when the call passes through the module, not before. Anything the caller heard or said earlier in the plan is not included.
What to fill in
| Field | What is expected | If you leave it empty |
|---|---|---|
| none | this module has no settings window: you place it and connect its output | not applicable |
Steps
- First check that the Recording setting is active in Settings. Without it, the module will pass through without triggering anything.
- Place the Record module at the point in the path where recording should start.
- Connect the previous node to its input.
- If an announcement needs to warn the caller, place the Play a file that carries it before this module.
- Connect the output to the rest of the path. Without this connection, the call stops here.
- Click Apply changes.
- Call the number, speak for a few seconds, hang up, then find the call in Reports, Call list and check the Recording column.
If it doesn't work
No recording is produced. The Recording setting is switched off at the installation level. The module does not bypass it: it checks this setting on every call and only acts if it is active. The Recording column in Reports, Call list then stays empty.
The call stops right after the module. Its output is not connected to anything. This module always continues to its output, including when recording did not start: what ends the call is the missing connection.
The recording does not contain the welcome announcement. Recording starts when the call passes through the module. Whatever plays before it is not included. Move the module earlier in the path.
The call is counted as answered as soon as it enters the plan. The module answers the call to start recording. If you need the call to remain unanswered during an earlier step, place Record after that step.
